Regarding the beatification of Fr. Walter Ciszek, SJ

If you live in eastern/northern Pennsylvania (or know someone who does), please help me promote this far and wide! (I have no personal stake in this event. I only want to see Fr. Ciszek beatified.)

On Palm Sunday, March 24, 2013, at 3pm in the auditorium at the Jesuit Center, 501 N. Church Street in Wernersville, PA, Sr. Rosemary Stets, OSF, will give a presentation on the life of the Servant of God Fr. Walter Ciszek, SJ. Father has his beatification cause going forward and is the hero of the books With God in Russia and He Leadeth Me, both republished by Ignatius Press. I use the word "hero" advisedly. (If you've ever read He Leadeth Me, for instance, you well understand why I've chosen that honorific.)

Sr. Rosemary will focus on Fr. Ciszek's life story, including his early family years, entrance to the Jesuits, years of hardship in Russia, and return to ministry as a Jesuit priest in the US.

The Center is where Fr. Ciszek is buried, so it makes an excellent pilgrimage opportunity for you and/or your family in the Year of Faith.

The Center is worth a pilgrimage in and of itself. It has a world class sacred art collection on its first two floors, it has several first class relics, and its chapel is beautiful. In fact, for fans of the North American Martyrs, it has one very important item, the banner depicting Ss. Isaac Jogues, Rene Goupil, and Jean de la Lande that hung over the balcony at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican on June 29, 1930, for their canonization by Pope Pius XI.

You do not want to miss this treat of a day.

For more information, call the Center at (610) 678-8085.

Again, please spread far and wide.

  1. Thx for the heads up - attended and was very moved by personal witness of those who knew him in attendence. Sr. Rosemary indicated she will be presenting her talk again in some weeks at Immaculata University in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, she suggested contacting their Mission & Ministry office, Fr. Christopher Rogers at crogers1@immaculata.edu for more info.
